CONTRACTS

Do you require fighters to sign an agreement to insure appearance for their scheduled bout?

Yes. If you have not done so, please print, complete and mail your agreement as soon as possible! You may find the agreement at the fighter's contract page to the left.

REGISTRATION FEES

Do you require a registration fee?

No.

Ticket Sales and Marketing

You are encouraged to sell at least 20 tickets to the event. You will be compensated 15% commission on any tickets you sell. The top sales performer for each event will receive 20% commission on their sales for their next event.

We do this for a few reasons:

1. Most of our fighters are local, and it's important for our fighters and our organization to develop a strong, local fan base.

2. It frees up our time. This allows us to concentrate more of our effort towards putting on professional, safe, well-matched events the fans will enjoy.

3. If a promotion does not encourage you to sell a certain number of tickets, then more often than not you will see "stacked cards". This is a result of a matchmaker trying to make his biggest ticket sellers happy. You will not see this at Shogun Cagefighting Championships LLC because all fighters are encouraged to sell 20 tickets. If there are 30 fighters in an event, that is 600 tickets. That is half of most amateur venues (or all of a small event). We don't have to stack a card because all the fighters did their part to support the event.

4. This IS a business. If you want a place to compete on a regular basis, then as promoters, we must make enough to put on another event without having to worry about how the expenses will be paid.

5. When you fight as an amateur, you are learning several things in addition to fighting. Making yourself more marketable to a promoter is one of them. We have over 100 fighters in our database, so things like this can obviously play a part in our decisions (this is a business after all).

6. You won't always fight for us. Some day you will move on. It is important to gain the ability to sell tickets now. It is a learning process. If you fight for other promoters some day, you can expect to sell from two to three hundred tickets! We've heard this directly from other promotions.

7. Simply put, it helps bring people through the door. There's nothing worse for you as a fighter than to train 3 months for a fight, just to have a few hundred people show up to watch.

TRAVEL AND HOTEL EXPENSES

DO YOU PAY THE FIGHTER'S TRAVEL EXPENSES?

Not at this time. This may be considered on a case by case basis in the future.

DO YOU PAY FOR HOTEL EXPENSES FOR EACH FIGHTER?

Not at this time. This may be considered on a case by case basis in the future.

CORNER PERSONNEL

DO YOU PAY HOTEL EXPENSES FOR THE CORNER PEOPLE?

No.

HOW MANY CORNER PEOPLE ARE WE ALLOWED?

You can have up to two corner people at most shows. Any other limits will be announced on the website for each event.

DO CORNER PEOPLE GET IN FREE?

Each fighter gets one free pass per event. He can give that pass to anyone he wants. All others, including corner people, will need to purchase a ticket for the event. (Sorry. Too many people abuse this otherwise.)

BLOOD WORK

DOES SHOGUN CAGEFIGHTING REQUIRE FIGHTERS TO HAVE A VALID BLOOD WORK-UP DONE?

Yes, we require HIV and HEP testing that must be valid within 180 days. Often you will find you can get this done at your local health department for FREE. Do it NOW though, as the HEP results take some time to come back!

SHOULD I SEND MY BLOODWORK RESULTS TO YOU?

No, bring it with you the day of the show.

FIGHT SUPPLIES

WHAT DOES SHOGUN CAGEFIGHTING SUPPLY FOR THE FIGHT?

We supply ice and water. You need to supply your own gauze and tape.

We may have a limited supply of gloves, tape, gauze, and Vaseline, but do not come to rely on this.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FIGHT/ENTRANCE MUSIC

DO I NEED TO NOTIFY YOU OF MY ENTRANCE MUSIC?

You will want to bring your music with you the day of the show, just in case we do not have your selection.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PAY AND AWARDS

ARE AMATEUR FIGHTERS PAID FOR FIGHTING?

No, once a fighter is paid, he is considered 'pro' and may never fight as an amateur again. Furthermore, once you fight a 'pro' fighter, you may be from then on, considered a 'pro' fighter. You will be eligible for some prizes, as well as ticket sales commissions.

DO FIGHTERS RECEIVE COMMISSION FOR SELLING TICKETS?

You will be compensated 15% commission on any tickets you sell. You must sell at least 10 tickets to be eligible. The top sales performer for each event will receive 20% commission on their sales for their next event.

DO WINNERS RECEIVE ANYTHING?

Unlike some promotions, Shogun Cagefighting awards a medal or trophy to every winner in our shows. Championship winners receive a belt. (Rights retained by Shogun Cagefighting and must be present at each event where that weight-class championship is contested. We don’t want to replace a bunch of belts as fighters move on.)
